Obviously, we do not do it intentionally but while we are online, we will sign into our msn, facebook, twitter and other social accounts for sure. Obviously these sites are great for communication but while working they are nothing but big distractions. If you have signed into msn, it doesn’t matter if your status is busy, people will send you IMs and you won’t be able to concentrate on work at all. So, in order to concentrate on your work, the first thing that you need to do is block all email notifications. Set a time for checking facebook and twitter. You do not have to be on these websites all the time.

It might be a little hard not checking the notifications instantly but later on you’ll realize that its for your own. These websites are a great distraction while working and you can easily forget your projects while commenting on pictures on statuses or replying to instant messages or phone calls. So, the first thing that you need to do is say a big no to all sort of instant communications. Trust me, you can live without them.

If Possible, Avoid Internet Completely

Some people have to stay connected to the internet because it is their requirement. If your project does not require any usage of internet, the best thing to do is disconnect it completely while you are working. Internet is of a great help but at the same time it is a great distraction. A person ends up wasting so much time on internet and that too unintentionally. When you start browsing one thing leads to another and it goes on. By the time you realize that you were supposed to work, you had wasted a lot of important time. So, if you are lucky enough to work without internet, disconnect your internet service immediately and you can connect it later once you are done with your work.

Schedule Creativity

Keeping things organized can be of a great help. Whenever you decide to work on a project, you need to have a plan or a schedule for handling things in a proper way. Calendar offers as a useful free gift to current and prospective clients and friends alike and also keeps your company at the top of their mind for the whole year. However, the challenge for calendar designers is to conceptualize and design their calendar in such a way that it retains the onlooker’s interest in each page for a longer time and to develop the viewer’s interest in your business. Such is called a call-to-action calendar.

So if you have got an assignment of calendar designing, or planning to design your own company’s calendar to promote your business; keep the following tips in mind in order to design a better calendar for the year 2011.

The Tips

Number of Months per Page

Calendars are of different types, depending upon the number of months per page. Mostly, businesses and organizations prefer 1-month-a-page type of calendar. This enables them to put their message across properly and the message, along with the visual keeps changing every month.

Although, this type of calendar may get expensive, however, it is better to opt for this one and suggest your client on the same. There are other options for calendars too including, 2 months a page, 4 months a page, 6 months a page and even 12 month (the whole year a page). Whichever calendar type you want to adopt, your aim should be to make it as appealing as possible.

Conceptualize a Theme

Every winning communication material requires a rationale, concept or theme behind it. Same goes for the calendar designing. You need to think about certain themes or concepts for the calendar and get one approved from the client (or yourself – in case of your own calendar).

This theme may be in accordance with the general corporate theme of the client company or any other interesting concept that may appeal the target audience of the calendar. I, for instance, gave some concepts for a bank’s calendar that included environment, culture, and music (as indirect themes) and history of money and the bank’s corporate history (as direct themes).

Decide Upon a Message

The concept of theme, about which I have mentioned above, needs to be accompanied, rather strengthened with the help of a message. Once the theme is decided, brainstorm the overall message you want to communicate in your calendar about your client’s product, service, industry or cause.

For example, the theme on environment should have statistical messages on extinct animals and plants or about every conservation etc. Likewise, for cultural theme, the message can be more poetic and for the bank’s history theme, the message can be regarding the different attribute or achievements of the bank.

Images with Quality and Quantity

When designing a calendar, images are of second-most important aspect to be considered (the first most important aspect is the theme). After the concept and message of the calendar is decided, you start searching the right images that blend with the theme and the message. Although it is quite a hectic activity to go step by step and look for best suited images for the messages, however, this hard work reaps you good at the end.

Some design houses or advertising agencies have their own images banks from where they find good images for the design. However, in most cases, either you undergo customized photography or rely on the images available from the internet. Whatever the medium is, you need to make sure that there are enough design, photography or illustration resources for all the pages of calendar and these images should be high-quality and printable according to the size of the calendar.

Make Best Use of the Page Space

As I have mentioned quite a lot of time earlier in this post, that a calendar is not just a page with dates and images, it is more of an opportunity to spread your message out throughout the year. So either you are designing a wall calendar or a table calendar (or even a pocket-size calendar), the message you want to convey should be proper and perfect. Also, there are times when designers find very little space for everything they want to put in a calendar and other times, it happens that designers get a large page space to display all the elements of the calendar.

Here, only the wisest of all designers would know how to compose everything in a way that it makes the best use of the page space, without losing viewer’s interest. Also, put an introductory page at the beginning or end of the calendar describing the business, its attributes and achievements. So always keep the client involved in the logo redesigning process at every single step. You should ask them what the main purpose behind the logo redesign and discrepancies in the existing logo, and then do your best to match their expectations.

Keep it Uncomplicated

A logo should be simple and uncomplicated; no matter it is the designing or redesigning process. In print designing, color and images are quite close and if not close they are blended in a way that cutting them can be the most difficult thing.

If you facing an issue like this, you should extend the size of your canvas past the actual print size so images and colors extend past the actual size. In this way, when you will trim down the print to actual size, the edges won’t suffer. Also, make sure that you do not end up confusing yourself with the size of your bleed canvas and your actual print size.

Just because you have deliver a lot in small space does not mean that you should make the design way too crowded and complex for people to understand. Always keep in mind that too much of information in one go can be a huge turn off.

Once you have printed the design, you can always review it and make sure you cut out everything that looks extra. Instead of giving a lot of information you can always mention a website at the end of the design where users can get a lot if information.

Invert

Companies or different products always have a tag line. While printing a design for a product or company, if you client wants to highlight a certain point or a tag-line, invert it. White on black is one example and it always looks great. Print designing gives you millions of way to exhibit your creativity as you have to do more in less which can be very difficult.

Material

Be very selective with the kind of material you use. It is your right to have a quality material so be demanding and do not compromise on quality of the material. If you are using photographs, the resolution should be perfect and clear of the picture as bad picture quality will over shadow all your efforts and good work. Tell your clients that if they really want something good for their product, they will have to invest in it.

Long Lasting Impression

The first impression is obviously very important however, you also have to focus on long lasting impression. People should talk about your design, they should find it attractive and the design should take the product to another level. Creating an impression is always difficult so you need to come up with a design that talks for itself.

Clarify the Objectives

Your print design should clarify the objectives of the product. Do not love your design in fact be critical about it. Take a look at your design again and again and make sure it is delivering the message perfectly to the audience. If you have managed to deliver your message is such a small space, you have successfully created a perfect design.

Review

Double check everything. Once you are done with completing a design, take a break. When your break is over, come back and look at your designs again and see if anything needs amendment. Check, spellings, alignments, color scheme and make sure nothing looks odd.

The Bottom Line

Going through the design is very important because if something is misprinted, you will have to work on getting things printed all over again (which causes a lot of effort and money to be spent). Check the design yourself and then show it to somebody who was not involved in designing process and ask them if they can find any mistakes. You can always send the design for print when it is checked and approved.

1. First of all download an image which you may use in brochure design (you can use your own photo for design).

2.  we are using an Arista font for title of our brochure.

3. Open a new document in Adobe Photoshop with dimensions 1100×600. (CMYK colors)  If you intend this to be a large brochure as you have requirements.

4. after create new document we just set rulers on our required area (550px width each) as we drawn in below image.

5. On the new layer and using a Gradient Tool (Keyboard key: G) set to Linear Gradient, create a gradient from colors #00aeff to #353433.

6. Let us now create an circles. Using the Ellipse Tool (Keyboard key: U), create a circle with color fill #ffffff. Make sure the Shape Layers option is activated. Draw the circle somewhere below the bottom half of the backpage document.

7. Now repeat Step 6 three more times and draw the inner circles. For the colors I have used # f47721, # 97ca49 and # 010000. We should now have something like this.

8. Merge all the 4 circles together in one layer, Duplicate this layer 3 times, arrange and resize the circles so we would have different placements and varied sizes.

9. Beneath all our circles layers, let us now draw our vertical lines. Using the Rectangular Tool (U), draw vertical lines from the top of the document and bottom of the document to where our circles placed. Use the same colors as we did with the repeated circles.

10. On right bottom all our circles layers, let us now draw our horizontal lines. Using the Rectangular Tool (Keyboard key: U), draw horizontal lines from the left of the document right of the document to where our circles placed. Use the same colors as we did with the repeated circles.

11. now add logo as we writing there text based logo using font name Arista.

12. in this step we just put our brochure given informative data on back page with heading where we using “Myriad Pro” font even in description text.

13. we’re focusing on an importent part of this creative designed brochure “contact” area which is highlighted area.

14. in this last step we just finalize our very professional brochure with an water mark style image where already placed some other brochure images in perspective view which make 100 time more professional environment, we just get this image from Link. just remove unnecessory things from this image and transform (CTRL + T) after select this image on banner area (both pages) and drop after set on background and redure opacity 10%, as we shown in below image.
